Life as a Zymer

So I’ve officially made the transition from intern to research associate! Things are going great. I just got back from our annual Summit Meetings where the CS, marketing, and sales departments come together for a week and learn more about all of the industries we work with. This year it was held at the Renaissance at North Hills in Raleigh. The hotel was a beautiful venue that gave everyone a nice break from the regular day-to-day activities in the office and lab. (Random side-note, the Renaissance has TV screens built inside the mirrors in the bathrooms in the hotel. That may not be all that practical (or relevant), but it was really cool!) One of the highlights of the week was a Whole Brain analysis, where everyone was given an analysis of how they prefer to think, in order to give us an idea of how to better relate to each other. The analysis split everyone up into 4 preferences: practical,  rational, experimental, or relational. My results showed that I have a very strong preference for the practical, followed closely by rational. It was really helpful, and a lot of fun, to see a glimpse into how our coworkers, and ourselves, think. We also had a night of teambuilding where we had dinner and trivia, which was a fun way to relax and get to know our coworkers better. All in all it was a great week!
