More gels
The past few weeks I have been continuing to run native-PAGE. The concentrations of the individual proteins in my samples are very different so I have had to run several gels with different concentrations of total protein to obtain good resolution of all the individual proteins. For example, the gel with the best resolution of the higher molecular weight proteins has 2 clear bands at the top but then is completely blue all the way through the rest of the lane where as the gel with the best resolution of the smaller molecular weight proteins has a few clear bands at the bottom but then nothing at the top.
During the waiting periods while the gels are running or shaking in stain, I have been writing my final report for the dough stability project. I finished my first draft last week and showed it to Rafael. He suggested a few additions so this week I am working on that and then we will be sending it out.
We have a meeting this Thursday for the side project I am involved with. Xinyu will be giving a presentation on her most recent work and then I will be sharing my results. I’m excited to hear what Xinyu has discovered and I am looking forward to the discussion that should result from our presentations.
