I’ve had an interest in biotechnology ever since elementary school, when I first started reading a university book on genetics because I needed to know something about the inheritance of blue and brown eyes for a biology class. This took me byDrosophila melanogaster and suddenly a whole new world opened itself to me. Despite of this interest, my plan was to study law and become a lawyer – but then I started high school and had my first lectures in biochemistry and I was completely sold to biotech!
When finishing high school most people took a year off to travel the world, but that wasn’t for me. I was playing at the Danish national team in squash at that time, and throughout high school training and travelling for tournaments took up all of my sparetime. Because of this, I didn’t feel the need for travelling but started at Technical University of Denmark (DTU) right away!
Throughout my education I have been in touch with a number of different subjects within the field of biotechnology, and it has never been my goal to become a specialist on any specific subject. I like to know something about everything, get my hands dirty with a number of different tasks every day and get challenged outside my regular workframe. Therefore, my project at Novozymes combining research with business development is ideal for me, making use of my knowledge within both fields, and gaining a range of competences throughout my work.
Even though I love my job there has to be time for other things in life. I have a great interest in yoga which I practice several times a week, and as cooking is one of my other passions I spend a great deal of hours in the kitchen to the delight of my fiancée.
I hope that you will enjoy my blog!
